Each year in the spring, Stone Soup Theatre presents the Double (XX) Play Fest (this year April 19th – May 6th.) This showcase provides audiences a chance to sample short plays written and directed by women. This year a Kickstarter campaign allows audience members to transform themselves into production producers – with small or large donations.
On Wednesday, March 21st, a special Moisture Festival performance will benefit the Fremont Arts Council, and the spectacular Solstice Parade. For the Equinox, go enjoy a creative celebration of vaudeville and comedy/varieté with Moisture Festival.
On Wednesday, March 7th from 8p – 11p, enjoy the latest installment of Skinny Dip – World Trip at High Dive. For only $7, enjoy this monthly mix of belly dance and burlesque, with a world theme for March’s installment.
On March 2nd, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk will further expand opportunities to engage and enjoy art, and meet the artists. Two new venues starting this month are: The Christy Carner Salon & Spa, featuring L.R. Odette, and the Planet Earth Yoga Center, featuring Made’ Sumaradana.
The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) seeks qualified, and spectacular, individuals interested in being on the staff of the 24th Solstice Parade, scheduled to take place at Noon on Saturday, June 16th, 2012.
This week the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) sent out a Request for Proposals (RFP,) seeking applications from artists building ensembles or floats for the 24th FAC Solstice Parade, or installations for the Gas Works Park gathering afterwards. McKay grants of up to $1,000 will be given out from a total pool of $4,500, with the deadline for submissions at 5p on Monday, March 26th.
Across the River Arts invites local, emerging artists to submit visual or performing art pieces to be exhibited and/or performed at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center on July 12, 2012. Pieces should center around the theme “Extraordinary in the Everyday.” The deadline to apply is April 15, 2012, and an application can be found on the Across The River website
On February 24th& 25th, the Fremont Abbey Arts Center will host a unique gathering to give voice as well as exposure to six Seattle choreographers, and nurture the dance community. The ground-breaking ‘A Moving Conversation, Annual Movement Arts Event,’ curated by Tori McConnell, returns for the second year to delight and engage audiences.
Due to a conflict with Valentine’s Day, the Fremont Arts Council leadership decided to postpone the monthly meeting of the Committee Of The Whole for one week. Usually held on the second Tuesday of each month, at the Powerhouse (3940 Fremont Ave N) starting at 7:10pm-ish, this month the meeting will take place – same place and time – on Tuesday, February 21st.
