Filming ‘First Note’ At Fremont Studios

Over the Christmas holiday, the Children’s Music Foundation and its founder and president, Rourke O’Brien, have spent several long days at Fremont Studios with a film crew, music teacher host (called ‘Miss Melody,’ Rachel Brackett is a teacher at Lakeview Elementary,) child performers, and visiting musicians. Together they are creating the DVDs that will be the final piece of a First Note music curriculum to be offered to schools all over the country.

Pali Chant Suite: Strings & Thai Yoga at West of Lenin

Next week, West of Lenin will bring another highly creative experience to Fremont. The black box theatre will convert into a yoga studio and live music venue with the introduction to Seattle of the Pali Chant Suite by Susan Voelz. Twice a day from January 5th – 8th, 70-minute Thai Yoga sessions will be held to music composed by Voelz, and performed by her and two other violinists – Anne Harris and Rose McIntosh.

Plans For After The Holiday? Think Woodland Park Zoo!

The Woodland Park Zoo is open every day, and this mild winter weather makes a stroll around the grounds a perfect activity for the whole family. On December 26, 27 & 28th follow a carefully scheduled wildlife trek as part of the Winter Celebration. Watch the animals munch on special holiday-themed treats including wreaths of assorted fruits, evergreen trees with ornamental fruit, boughs and wrapped boxes.

Celebrate Festivus With Not A Number Cards & Gifts

On Saturday, December 17th, between Noon and 7p, the wacky folks at Not A Number will celebrate the season with a selection of traditional Festivus rituals including the Airing Of Grievances, Feats of Strength (including Rock’em Sock’em Robots, thumb wrestling, tater tot toss, etc.,) and a selection of Festivus poles.
