Seattle City Councilmember At-Large Tim Burgess sent out an e-mail on September 8th requesting that citizens voice their views to our Mayor and Councilmembers on the issue of homeless camp sites, and the overall city approach to homelessness.
On Monday, September 12th, at 6:30p, at the Good Shepherd Center, the City of Seattle will hold a public early design guidance meeting on a 4-story residential development proposed for 4201 Stone Way North.
The Seattle Department of Transportation has made revisions to North 34th Street, west of Fremont Avenue North, to build a protected bike lane. This week, September 6th – 9th, crews are scheduled to install white plastic posts intended to provide a visible barrier between the bicycle lane and vehicle traffic.

The next round of Arts in Parks (AIP) grant applications has been opened by the Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. The deadline for applications to this program, intended as outreach to underserved communities, is October 19th, 2016.
King County Wastewater Fremont Siphon Replacement Project continues as the new micro-tunnel sewage siphons replace the 100-year-old Fremont siphon. A large crane will need to be moved onto a portion of the Burke-Gilman Trail, in Fremont Canal Park near 2nd Ave N.W. The Trail will be blocked for brief periods on August 23rd, and users should follow flagger’s directions to pass safely through the work area.
On Monday, August 8th, neighbors filled a meeting room at the Good Shepherd Center to hear about, and comment on, a proposed 7-story office building for 900 N 34th St, to be built under the Living Building Pilot Program. This would be the third building built under this program (and the second in Fremont,) which requires the structure to meet very high, very strict standards of energy conservation and sustainability.
On Monday, August 22nd, at 9a, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will put in place a short reroute of the Burke-Gilman Trail under the Fremont portion of the Aurora Bridge. This detour is due to last through mid-fall.
Starting August 22nd, Seattle Public Utilities crews may be doing soil investigation work in the middle of Leary Way NW, near 2nd Ave NW, where the roadway curves off of N 36th St. The work could take up to five days to complete, and could disrupt traffic, while restricting parking in the area.
tarting as soon as Monday, August 15th, the City of Seattle will begin making significant traffic changes to North 34th Street, west of Fremont Avenue North. These changes will create a protected bike lane on N 34th St, between the Fremont Bridge and the Burke-Gilman Trail.
