Farewell J.P. Patches – Chris Wedes

‘Bye-bye for now!’ On Sunday, July 22nd, Chris Wedes passed away at age 84. Wedes, who had battled cancer for years, was very well known to native Seattlites (and Fremonsters) as Julius Pierpont Patches – or J.P. Patches to the ‘Patches Pals’ that grew up watching his Emmy winning television program.

‘Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?’ Why At The Fremont Outdoor Cinema, Of Course!

This Saturday, July 21st, the Fremont Outdoor Cinema features the Coen Brothers’ film treat, ‘Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?’ Showing at dusk on the parking lot at Phinney Ave N & N 35th St., this film – often praised for its liberal use of folk music as much for the content of its story – will be preceded by a live musical performance by local blue grass duo, The Gloria Darlings. Gates open at 7p.

Lost Dog FOUND! With Thanks To All!

The family of Puzzle, a dog lost at Gas Works Park last week, sent notice that she has returned, safe and sound. They also shared their thanks to those who helped in the search. “It does seem like everyone in the area has been looking out for her,” reported Puzzle’s mom on Tuesday, July 17th.

On Sunday, July 22nd, from 2p – 4p, the music in the Sculpture Garden of History House continues to play. This week, enjoy the sounds of Percy Hilo and of The Lost River String Band, for FREE, in a cool, relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere – before and after touring the Fremont Sunday Market.

Community Meeting On Woodland Park/Phinney Play Area Renovation

The Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation will host two community meetings to discuss renovations to the Woodland Park play area, located at 1000 N 59 St. The first meeting will take place Wednesday, July 18th, from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Phinney Neighborhood Association (Room 1,) located at 6532 Phinney Ave N.

Dog Lost Near Gas Works – Can You Help?

On Thursday, July 12th, a 60lb. black Viszla mix dog ran away, and her family is very anxious to see her back home. She got lost near Gas Works Park – last seen in Wallingford near 45th Street – after the thunderstorms.
