Unfortunately, the ‘Slow Ride Speed Date’ gathering at Hub And Bespoke, scheduled for Tuesday, October 4th, has been cancelled. Advance sign-ups failed to reach the critical mass necessary for a successful speed dating event, although positive responses continue to be heard about this creative, cycling twist for singles’ looking to meet.
The Seattle Ferry Service has launched ferry service across Lake Union, connecting the University of Washington (at Agua Verde) to South Lake Union (at Lake Union Park.) For those who commute to Downtown Seattle – or want to connect with the S.L.U.T. (South Lake Union Trolly) – the Seattle Mini-Ferry could provide another transportation option.
On Tuesday, October 4th, single gay and lesbian cyclists will have a chance to meet other bike lovers as Hub and Bespoke hosts their second “Slow Ride Speed Date” event.
Want to have a visible impact on the life of a child, after giving only a few hours a week? B.F. Day Elementary School needs volunteers to meet with elementary students twice a week to give basic assistance with writing, math, and reading. After school tutoring requires no real special skills, beyond a willingness to help and the time to give. After school sessions are on Tuesdays & Thursdays, October 18th to April 5th (holidays off!) from 3p – 4:15p.
The Fremont Chamber of Commerce monthly meet up of tech specialists gives those who work in IT, software, hardware, networking, web development, etc. a chance to gather together, informally, for fun, food, drink and free wi-fi! The next gathering will be Thursday, September 29th at History House from 7p – 9p.

The popular trivia contest most recently hosted by at Dad Watson’s has moved to White Rabbit, providing an opportunity for geeks of all interests and acumen to gather. Now held on Sundays, starting September 25th, at 7p.m.
This Saturday, September 24th, from 5p – 7p, join the Seattle F.R.I.E.N.D.S., as our community celebrates (and gives a huge, collective sigh of relief) over the installation of the safety barrier on the George Washington Memorial Bridge (a.k.a. Aurora.) The party will take place at History House (790 N 34th St,) will include snacks and beverages donated by grateful Fremont businesses, and is free to attend.
This weekend has plenty going on, but you will truly miss out if you don’t at least stop by Fremont Oktoberfest on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday, September 23rd – 25th. The fun begins Friday at 5p, and extends to Sunday at 6p – with plenty going on, in addition to serving up great beer!
