Fremont Place Books Closing Sale

On Sunday, February 27th, from Noon – 6p, Henry Burton invites everyone to stop by Fremont Place Books (a.k.a. Fremont Place Book Company) to celebrate 22-years of books and bookselling, and to say good-bye to it all. Additionally, he hopes book lovers, bargain shoppers, and shopkeepers will come in to buy up the inventory, office supplies and furnishings.

OAR NW Adventurers To Appear At Seattle Boat Show

Now at the Seattle Boat Show, at Qwest Field Event Center, through Sunday, January 30th, will be four men who plan to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a 29-foot rowboat starting in December 2011. Atlantic Ocean Rowing Race veterans Greg Spooner and (Fremonster) Jordan Hanssen, Olympic Gold Medalist Adam Kreek, and former UW rower Richard Tarbill will be available from 10a – 8p each day of the Boat Show to answer questions about their experiences, and plans.

Kvichak Marine Awarded Long Beach Transit Contract

The Aqualink, built by Kvichak Marine Industries (of Fremont) and designed by Incat Crowther (of Australia), has been in operation by Long Beach Transit (of California) since 2001. The reliability of the catamaran and the success of the water taxi program has resulted in a request by Long Beach Transit for Kvichak to build a second boat.

Community Meeting on January Closures On North 34th

As part of the Underground Feeder Extension project, North 34th Street will be closed from Troll Way to Stone Way for two weeks starting January 3rd, during weekday construction hours (7:30a – 4p.) A second community meeting to discuss the closures, and ways to mitigate their impacts, will be held on Tuesday, December 28, at History House (790 N 34th) at 8:30a, with representatives from Seattle City Light and the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).
