An Occasion to Celebrate the Aurora Bridge Barrier

This Saturday, September 24th, from 5p – 7p, join the Seattle F.R.I.E.N.D.S., as our community celebrates (and gives a huge, collective sigh of relief) over the installation of the safety barrier on the George Washington Memorial Bridge (a.k.a. Aurora.) The party will take place at History House (790 N 34th St,) will include snacks and beverages donated by grateful Fremont businesses, and is free to attend.

Fremont Oktoberfest Happens! This Weekend!

This weekend has plenty going on, but you will truly miss out if you don’t at least stop by Fremont Oktoberfest on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday, September 23rd – 25th. The fun begins Friday at 5p, and extends to Sunday at 6p – with plenty going on, in addition to serving up great beer!

Learn Lantern Making And Join The 2011 Luminata Walk

Going on now, the Fremont Arts Council and Peter Toms are offering public workshops on the art of lantern making at the Powerhouse, at 3940 Fremont Avenue North. Workshops will take place Wednesday and Thursday, September 14th & 15th, from 6p – 9p, on Sunday, September 18th from Noon to 6p, and Tuesday and Wednesday, September 19th – 21st from 6p – 9p.

Hey! Volunteer – And Help The Fremont Chamber!

The last weekend of September is the Fremont Oktoberfest – one of the greatest beer festivals in the world! Seriously! The organizers, Bold Hat Productions, have the awards to prove it.

However, the festival depends upon the generosity of a huge cadre of volunteers – including you! Particularly on Saturday evening, September 24th, for the 7p – close (11:45p) shift. Fremont Oktoberfest needs pour-ers to get the beer out and keep the festival from having to shut down early.

Come Paint, In A Good Cause

On Saturday, September 10th, the third public painting party will take place on the Aurora Bridge Mural (a.k.a. The Bridge Way Mural,) created by Patrick Gabriel in 1997. This will be a great opportunity to help remove graffiti and improve the surroundings – as well as building camaraderie among Fremonsters who love this art work!
