Kvichak Delivers Harbor Patrol 9 As Promised

As reported in the Fremocentrist.com for April 4th, the Seattle Police Department took delivery of a Kvichak Marine Industries 45’ Response Boat Medium – C (RBM-C,) to be named Patrol 9. A press release received this week confirmed delivery, and also reported that Kvichak is currently building two additional RBM-C vessels for the New York Police Department.

Burke-Gilman Trail Missing Link Delay Upheld

On February 16th, Judge Jim Rogers, of King County Superior Court, issued a decision on the Burke-Gilman Trail Missing Link case. The Burke-Gilman Trail currently terminates near 8th Avenue N.W., at the western border of Fremont. The City of Seattle has proposed continuation of the trail through the industrial zone of Ballard.

New York City Police Contracts With Kvichak For Two More Vessels

In mid- November, Kvichak Marine Industries announced a contract to build two more of their Response Boat Medium – C (RB-M C) vessels for the New York City Police Harbor Unit (NYPD.) The first of the vessels is scheduled for delivery in April 2012, and the second in August 2012. Kvicak has already delivered one RB-M C to the NYPD, in May 2010.

Words from Councilmember & SDOT at NSIA Meeting

On Tuesday, April 26th, the North Seattle Industrial Association (NSIA) held their monthly meeting at 7:30a at the Car Wash Enterprises (Brown Bear) offices, in Fremont, with guests City Councilmember Sally Clark and Seattle Department of Transportation Director Peter Hahn. The NSIA provides a voice for industrial, manufacturing and/or maritime businesses in Ballard, Interbay and Fremont, primarily.

North Transfer Station Walking Tour & Community Meeting on April 30th

On Saturday, April 30th, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) will host a walking tour and a public meeting to gather community input on the two final design concepts for the remodel of the North Seattle Recycling and Disposal Station (a.k.a. The Dump.) A walking tour of the perimeter of the existing facility will take place on Saturday, starting at 9:30a (and going to 11a) at the corner of North 34th St & Carr Pl North. At Noon (until 2p) a public meeting will be held at Hamilton International Middle School (1610 N 41st St.)
