Recently, Kvichak Marine Industries delivered Patrol 28, a 28’ x 9’3” all-aluminum vessel to the Boston Police Department Harbor Patrol (BPD.)
This weekend, June 8th & 9th, our local museum, History House of Greater Seattle, offers two free, enriching afternoon’s entertainments appropriate for all ages.
On Saturday, June 8th, at 2pm, History House of Greater Seattle will host a public open house for the Discovery Modelers Education Center (DMEC) celebrating, and detailing, their work. Come aboard this informative and entertaining discussion of nautical history and craftsmanship.
In March, Kvichak Marine Industries delivered the third response boat – built in Fremont – to the New York Police Department Harbor Unit. This 44.5’ Response Boat Medium – C will join two others – delivered in April 2010 and August 2012 – to provide maritime security and law enforcement along with search and rescue in the New York metropolitan area.
The new Center for Wooden Boats Workshop & Warehouse, located at 1475 N Northlake Place just west of Gas Works Park, will formally open on Friday, May 4th, from 5:30p – 7p, with an official dedication ceremony. On Saturday, May 5th, the official opening day of boating season, a community open house and tours will take place from 10a – 2p.
As reported in the Fremocentrist.com for April 4th, the Seattle Police Department took delivery of a Kvichak Marine Industries 45’ Response Boat Medium – C (RBM-C,) to be named Patrol 9. A press release received this week confirmed delivery, and also reported that Kvichak is currently building two additional RBM-C vessels for the New York Police Department.
This month the Center for Wooden Boats (CWB) took a huge leap forward in building a facility for the interactive maritime museum on North Lake Union. The signing of an interim lease with King County METRO Transit Division for a property near Gasworks Park will bring the North Lake Union Community Wharf within sight come spring 2012.
