Farewell J.P. Patches – Chris Wedes

‘Bye-bye for now!’ On Sunday, July 22nd, Chris Wedes passed away at age 84. Wedes, who had battled cancer for years, was very well known to native Seattlites (and Fremonsters) as Julius Pierpont Patches – or J.P. Patches to the ‘Patches Pals’ that grew up watching his Emmy winning television program.

Passing – Richard Beyer, Fremont’s First Public Artist

On Monday, April 9th, 2012, Richard Sternoff Beyer passed away following a serious stroke he sustained on March 27th. Beyer is survived by his wife, Dorothy Scholz-Beyer, and his children Elizabeth Beyer Miller and Charles S. Beyer, and two step-children, Charles Scholz and Anna Scholz Godas, and 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Celebrate An Important Local Book Launch at History House

On Saturday, February 4th, at 2p, attend a celebration of a life, and a memoir of growing up on Green Lake, at History House. The charming collection of stories, ‘Pork Neckbones, Sauerkraut & Rutabagas’ by Dorothea Nordstrand, will be officially launched at this celebration of her life.

Ron Davies Tribute CD Release Concert on June 26th

On Sunday, June 26th, the doors open at 7p, as local artists gather to perform a tribute concert for Ron Davies, the talented song writer who passed away. The show also launches the release of a CD of 18 of Davies’ songs, recorded by fans and friends. The concert, at Hale’s Palladium (4301 Leary Way NW,) will feature the considerable talents of many local musicians and performers.

A Memorial Day Word of Gratitude

On this 2011 Memorial Day, the Fremocentrist would like to take a moment to say ‘Thank You!’ to the generous men and women who give of their time and talent (and, unfortunately, sometimes their lives) to serve in our military.

Passing – Kim Ricketts, Local Businesswoman

Local businesswoman, Kim Ricketts, passed away on Monday, April 25th, at the age of 53. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 4th at 3p at St. Mark’s Cathedral (1245 – 10th Ave E). Donations in her honor can be made to 826 Seattle and The Seattle Public Library. Passing – Arne Vemo, Local Landowner

Fremont landowner, and local character, Arne Vemo, died at the age of 70, on Sunday, April 3, in Palm Desert, California after a day spent enjoying his favorite pastime – golf. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 30th at 1:00 pm, at First Lutheran Church of Richmond Beach (18354 8th Ave NW, Shoreline,) with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sharing Alongside (PO Box 33663, Seattle, 98133) or Nordic Heritage Museum (3014 NW 67th Street, Seattle, 98117) in his name.
