The goal of the Seattle Volunteer Naturalist Program is to enhance, promote and foster appreciation of nature by connecting citizens and students with their Seattle parklands, by providing educational opportunities for all.

For those looking to grow your own fresh, healthy food, this weekend is Seattle Tilth’s annual Edible Plant Sale, from 9a – 3p on May 4th & 5th at Meridian Park (4649 Sunnyside Ave N.) Stock up on plants and supplies to make it easy to grow your own organic vegetable garden.
At the Fremont Siphon Open House, the project team shared the new layout for the site of a permanent structure and access panels, and two design options. A structure for odor control must be constructed, and input at a January 2013 public design workshop developed two potential options which need input for deciding between them.
This Sunday, March 24th, from 10a – 1p, another work party will be held at Fremont’s own Peak Park (at 4357 Palatine Ave N,) and your hands are needed to get dirty!
This Sunday, February 24th, from 10a – 1p, the first work party will be held at Fremont Peak Park for 2013. Post Winter Solstice, the days get longer and the bulbs start to sprout. Unfortunately, the weeds sprout even more and volunteers are needed to gather the invaders up and send them off to the great compost pile.
All friends of History House of Greater Seattle are invited to come help clean the grounds and get the gardens ready for winter on Saturday, October 13th starting at 10a.
