Literacy Source Begins Registering Students At New Lake City Facility

While sad news for Fremont, in April Literacy Source will be relocating to more spacious facilities in Lake City, at 3200 NE 125th St. Attend the upcoming Annual Literacy Source Breakfast! On May 4th, from 7:30a – 9a, at Seattle Pacific University, hear from students who have changed their own lives and those of their families, along with the 2016 top book picks from Nancy Pearl. Volunteer, And Help Improve Fremont, With Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest

Volunteers are still needed to sign-up for the Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest on March 25th & 26th, to contribute to this entertaining, and educational, fundraising event. Volunteers are most critically needed for Saturday, March 26th, from 8p – 11:45p, to help the Seattle Scotch Fest raise money for the Fremont Chamber of Commerce Community Grant program.

FamilyWorks Asks For Help Stocking The ‘Holiday Shop’

Help families in need, in our community, with gifts for children living in poverty. The FamilyWorks Food Bank & Family Resource Center likes to offer clients the option to ‘shop’ for gifts to give their children. This is a tangible way to help impoverished families, by donating new gifts for the ‘Holiday Shop’, for children ages 0 – 17.

Following the traditional consumerism of the last weekend, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been adopted as Giving Tuesday!

While there are lots of options to give locally, a few Fremont non-profits have asked for our consideration this year – Moisture Festival, Nalanda West, and Urban Sparks.

Just Confirmed – Stone Soup’s DownStage Theater Goes Dark At End Of 2015

On Monday, November 9th, Stone Soup Theatre Artistic Director Maureen Miko sent out an e-mail explaining the new direction being taken by the theatrical company. While the non-profit will continue their exceptional work with youth, through drama outreach, summer camps and the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs Creative Advantage Program, they will no longer be producing professional theater productions at their DownStage Theater space (4029 Stone Way N), after December 2015.

Tableau Foundation Names Beneficiaries Of 2015 Community Grant Cycle

At the end of October, Tableau Foundation announced the beneficiaries of their generous Community Grants Program for 2015. In addition to non-profits in Austin, Texas and Kirkland, Washington, Tableau Foundation, an initiative of Tableau Software, one of the largest and fastest growing software companies in our community, has granted funds to eleven recipients doing work in Fremont.
