Head’s Up – Or Eyes Front – Warning For Gas Works Park

On Friday, May 4th, from 6p – 8p, a Facebook coalition has declared a ‘No Pants Day: Time Travel Photo Shoot’ to take place at Gas Works Park. While this may, or may not, actually happen (and weather may play a part in that decision,) for those who don’t want to participate – or those who do – here is your five day warning…

Fremont Peak Park Work Party on Feb 26th

On Sunday, February 26th, from 10a – 1p, the Friends of Fremont Peak Park welcome everyone to come get dirty, and help out at the early Spring work party. Volunteers are welcome to come for the whole time, or for whatever part they can squeeze into the Sunday schedule.

Plans For After The Holiday? Think Woodland Park Zoo!

The Woodland Park Zoo is open every day, and this mild winter weather makes a stroll around the grounds a perfect activity for the whole family. On December 26, 27 & 28th follow a carefully scheduled wildlife trek as part of the Winter Celebration. Watch the animals munch on special holiday-themed treats including wreaths of assorted fruits, evergreen trees with ornamental fruit, boughs and wrapped boxes.

Center For Wooden Boats Begins Clean Up On North Lake Union Site

This month the Center for Wooden Boats (CWB) took a huge leap forward in building a facility for the interactive maritime museum on North Lake Union. The signing of an interim lease with King County METRO Transit Division for a property near Gasworks Park will bring the North Lake Union Community Wharf within sight come spring 2012.

Peak Park Community Clean Up On Oct. 30th

This Sunday, October 30th, from 10a – 1p, the Friends of Fremont Peak Park will hold one of their popular work parties. Mulching and planting, as well as a little trimming, are planned. Also, coffee, snacks and any other goodies volunteers wish to bring along. Please RSVP in advance – at info@FremontPeakPark.org – so they will have tools and space for you to work.

King County To Perform Maintenance Work On The Fremont Siphon

Beginning the week of July 18th, as part of the Fremont Siphon Sewer Project, crews from King County will do maintenance work on the both the Queen Anne and Fremont access points. In Fremont, intermittent work will occur near 2nd Avenue NW and NW Canal Street, with heavy equipment, noise, dust and odor expected.
