The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has done routine structural analysis and safety assessment of the 68-year-old retaining wall along North Northlake Way, and engineers have established that important steps must be taken to reduce the load on the wall and prevent further deterioration.
On Sunday, June 10th, the Seattle Rock’N’Roll Marathon returns, this time benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, bringing more than 18,000 runners and walkers to our streets.
On Friday, June 1st, the Brooks Fremont Fun Run returns to our streets, providing an evening of exercise and entertainment. Join in on the 5K run, and/or the Briefcase Relay that divides the 5K among five racers that generally represent clubs, organizations and businesses.
This spring, contractors will continue repainting the historic, 87-year-old George Washington Memorial (a.k.a. Aurora) Bridge for the Washington State Department of Transportation. It will take about 15,000 gallons of paint, and about two more years, to complete the cleaning and repainting of the steel structure.
The Pilot Seattle Bike Share Program, that has the green, orange and yellow rental bikes parked all over the neighborhood, is accepting survey input before April 20th.

On Sunday, April 8th, the12-mile Emerald City Bike Ride will start and end in SODO, passing through Fremont on its looping route. This fundraising event, for Cascade Bicycle Club, will take place early in the day to minimize impacts on our community – and allow cyclists to bike the Viaduct, before it is gone for good!
On Tuesday, March 6th, from 5:30p – 7:30p, at the Fremont Branch Library, the ‘Your Voice, Your Choice’ team will host a public meeting to allow us to choose which street and park projects will be funded in our district.
On Monday, February 26th, at 7p, the Fremont Neighborhood Council (FNC) will host its monthly meeting at the Doric Lodge #92. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings, and learn more about issues and concerns to residents.
