Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. When it comes to Fremont, she likes to say she's full of it!
Seattle Parks & Recreation staff, and the Superintendent, met with concerned neighbors of the Fremont Troll on December 3rd. Neighbors have sent letters and made calls about their concerns and requests for assistance with extreme trespassing and camping on the public property around the sculpture and the north-end of the Aurora Bridge.
The Seattle Police Department and Seattle Fire Department are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect in the setting of arson fires in Fremont on Christmas Eve.
Located in the Burke Building (400 N 34th,) next door to the UW Northwest Primary Care Clinic, the Bellevue Pain Institute has now opened a Fremont branch.
On the morning of Christmas Eve, Dec 24th, at 3:45a, an arsonist set a fire beneath the back deck of Red Star Taco Bar. Luckily a bartender still at work alerted the Seattle Fire Department who responded immediately. Unfortunately, Red Star and neighboring businesses Habitude and Sfingiday did suffer devastating damage nonetheless.

On Sunday, December 23rd, the Hiyu Ferry will set sail on Lake Union, to be near Gas Works Park for front row at the Christmas Ships.
This week the new and improved Fremont Guidepost was sunk back in the ground at the Center of the Universe, so we will all know how to find our way to our favorite locations – if we must leave our dear corner of quirkiness.
