Last week, on a sunny autumn afternoon, visual artist Jonathan Matas added further to the mural he’s creating for Lama G’s Café. A student at neighboring Nalanda West Center for American Buddhism, Matas has been hard at work on several commission in that area – trim on the windows at Art Of The Table and another mural for the newly relocated Oom Yung Doe martial arts school across the street.
This Sunday, November 6th, the Backdoor @ Roxy’s will feature two burlesque shows, at 7p & 9p, starring the Backbar Beauties. Fremont’s own speakeasy will go a little more vintage, and a little more racy, as the Beauties bring burlesque to this strictly 21 and over establishment.

According to reliable sources, Catholic Housing Services has received a promise of funding from the State of Washington and the City of Seattle to build their proposed affordable permanent housing in Fremont. The 71-unit building will be constructed on the west side of Aurora Avenue North, at the former site of the Thunderbird Motel.
In an effort to provide opportunities for networking, business-building and sharing resources, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce will host a meet-up for practitioners of the health and wellness fields on Tuesday, November 1st, at 5:30p, at Om Culture. After nearly six years in Wallingford, the legendary gift shop, Not A Number, has moved on. While owners Kara Ceriello and John DeLeeuw originally started the shop on Queen Anne, they looked toward Ballard for relocation. Yet, the cosmos – and that wondrous pull of the Center of the Universe – drew them to Fremont where they intend to reopen on November 11, 2011, “disseminating progressive ideas and items,” as the shop motto states.
After months of suspension, the former Santolea restaurant has officially closed – and will be transformed into ‘The Fremont Fire Pit’ by Peter Glick, owner of Roxy’s Diner and Backdoor @ Roxy’s, hopefully in November 2011.
