On Monday, October 22nd, two Fremont community organizations offer two very different, but very educational and helpful evenings of information – on safe art supply storage, and election decisions.
The weekend of October 12th – 14th, ‘The Painting Experience’ will be in Fremont for those looking to tap their creativity, at Doric Lodge #92. As the annual fall publishing push of new cookbooks is awaited at Book Larder, the community cookbook store in Upper Fremont, the shop will hold a sale this weekend – September 8th & 9th – with discounts of 25 – 40% on select titles.
This fall, starting in late-September, classes will get underway for those wanting to explore their creativity. This 12-week series of classes, taught to the workbook ‘The Artist’s Way,’ by Julia Cameron, will help those who think they can’t be creative, and those wishing to build on their creative ways.
With only a week left before taking to the streets with its singular creativity on June 16th at Noon, the 2012 Fremont Arts Council (FAC) Solstice Parade still offers plenty of opportunities for you to engage and get involved.
Come help build the 2012 Solstice Parade, with the Fremont Arts Council, at the Powerhouse (3940 Fremont Ave N.) Workshops take place frequently over the next month, although the studio is open every day and anyone can show up and lend a hand. The Powerhouse studio hours just now are 6p – 9p on weeknights, 9a – 6p on weekends. Remember, the best way to enjoy this parade is to be in the parade – at Noon on Saturday, June 16th.
Registration remains open for the two 12-week classes on ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron, an international bestselling book on the subject of creativity. The classes are being offered, through the Seattle Artist’s Way Center, either on Mondays at 6:30p, starting May 14th, or Fridays at 10:30a, starting May 11th, and taught at Present Sense (at 4131 Woodland Park Avenue.)
The new Center for Wooden Boats Workshop & Warehouse, located at 1475 N Northlake Place just west of Gas Works Park, will formally open on Friday, May 4th, from 5:30p – 7p, with an official dedication ceremony. On Saturday, May 5th, the official opening day of boating season, a community open house and tours will take place from 10a – 2p.
At Karin Collins Taiji & Qigong Studio, kids can spend mid-winter break learning ‘Kung Fu Acting for Movies.’ Combining cinematic and martial arts, this fun series of classes – held February 20th through 24th – will allow aspiring actors a chance to perform scenes from their own original scripts.
