North Transfer Station Walking Tour & Community Meeting on April 30th

On Saturday, April 30th, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) will host a walking tour and a public meeting to gather community input on the two final design concepts for the remodel of the North Seattle Recycling and Disposal Station (a.k.a. The Dump.) A walking tour of the perimeter of the existing facility will take place on Saturday, starting at 9:30a (and going to 11a) at the corner of North 34th St & Carr Pl North. At Noon (until 2p) a public meeting will be held at Hamilton International Middle School (1610 N 41st St.)

Help Keep Fremont Clean & Tidy With the FNC

On Saturday, April 30th, the Fremont Neighborhood Council will host their annual ‘spring clean’ of Fremont Avenue, and surrounding areas. Come do good, and socialize. Bring a friend (and kids love this!), and then it hardly feels like work! Anytime between 9a and 11a, stop by the Fremont Arts Council Powerhouse (3940 Fremont Ave North) to get free bags, gloves and trash picker-uppers.

B.F. Day Art Opening & Display

On Friday, April 29th, from Noon – 2p, a very special art show will take place in Fremont. In the library of B.F. Day Elementary School (3921 Linden Ave N) will be displayed paintings – on canvas – done by students, and commissioned by Windermere Realty.

Fremont Eateries Participate in Dining Out For Life

Thursday, April 28th, will be the 18th year of Dining out for Life, an easy (and yummy!) fundraiser for fighting illness, and hunger, by supporting Lifelong AIDS Alliance. Fremont restaurants – Blue Moon Burgers, Caffe Vita, Costas Opa, Kylie’s Chicago Pizza, Ponti Seafood Grill and Tutta Bella – will participate in 2011.

More Great Live Theater Comes To Fremont

For three weeks, starting Friday, April 29th, Arouet Productions will stage the Terrence McNally play, Frankie & Johnny In The Clair de Lune, at the DownStage Theater of Stone Soup (4029 Stone Way North.) This faithful production, directed by Roy Arauz, will feature Meredith Binder and Greg LoProto in the title roles.

The Double XX Fest at Stone Soup Theatre calls it a wrap this weekend, April 21 – 23, but not without giving audiences its absolute, very best! ‘The Best of the Fest’ show features six short plays, selected by celebrity judges and audience votes, as the favorites of both the first and second weeks of the Fest.

A Dance Concert For a Slave-Free World, This Weekend!

On Friday, April 15th and Saturday, April 16th, at 7:30p, turn out to support efforts to fight human trafficking – and enjoy a show of artistic beauty and stunning talent at the same time. At the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, in the Grand Hall, the Karin Stevens Dance company and the rock band JUBILEE will perform together on a show called The New Abolitionist Movement: A Dance Concert For A Slave-Free World.

Step Into Stone Soup For More XX Fun!

Week two, April 14 – 17, 2011, of the Stone Soup Theatre Double (XX) Play Fest continues strong, with plenty to witness, experience and enjoy. This week features a new selection of short works written by female playwrights, directed by female directors and performed by some of Seattle’s finest, underexposed talents. Also this week, check out the outrageous 24-Hour All-Female Play Production marathon, where three playwrights write three plays overnight, and then three directors and 9 actors stage the works.
