The Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) has launched a collection of four videos intended to educate on how the public can safely dispose of hypodermic syringes, needles and lancets – also known as ‘sharps’ – found on private property.
The community work party originally scheduled for cleaning and pruning at Fremont Peak Park on Saturday, August 25th, has been cancelled. Instead, the neighbors who care for and groom this public park hope to see everyone for the next work party on September 22nd.
Coming soon – on Friday, September 21st – the City of Seattle will once again host PARK(ing) Day, an annual event to transform on-street parking spaces into creative, community building opportunities, for part of a day.
On Saturday, July 21st, from 10a – Noon, the Friends of Fremont Peak Park will hold one of it’s semi-monthly work parties to clean-up and landscape this community green space, at 4357 Palatine Ave N.
On Tuesday, May 1st, at 5p, the Fremont Arts Council will hold its annual May Day celebration to the Spring. This family-friendly, all-ages party will take place in the Woodland Park Picnic Shelter #6, off Whitman Ave N & N 63rd St (next to the horseshoe courts.)
On Tuesday, March 6th, from 5:30p – 7:30p, at the Fremont Branch Library, the ‘Your Voice, Your Choice’ team will host a public meeting to allow us to choose which street and park projects will be funded in our district.
It is time to submit ideas and proposals to the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods on ways we can improve our streets and parks, through the ‘Your Voice, Your Choice’ (YVYC) initiative. This year, $3,000,000 will be spent on small-scale improvements, submitted by us and our neighbors, between now and February 2nd.
Community groups with proposals on how to renovate, expand, or upgrade a Seattle Park are hereby invited to apply for the Major Project Challenge Fund (MPCF,) a Seattle Park District funding initiative.
On Wednesday, August 16th, from 5p – 7p, Seattle City Councilmember Rob Johnson will be hosting a Public Safety Open House specifically focused on Council District #4. At the Gas Works Park picnic area, attendees can hear from, and ask questions of, experts in the field of homelessness and crime prevention.
This summer, the community is coming together to improve the play area in the public, ADA accessible B.F. Day School Upper Playfields. Over three Saturdays, volunteers are being sought to help with clearing the area and installing new play equipment – then replacing the surface materials.
