Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. According to a Woodland Park Zoo press release on Thursday, December 15th, at approximately 3:15p, fire broke out in the currently closed Night Exhibit. Seattle Fire Department and the Zoo’s Emergency Team quickly responded, and the fire was contained by 4:30p.
