Winter Quarter Begins For Ikebana Classes
Classes in the art, and poetry, of Ikebana will continue for winter quarter starting on Wednesday, January 7th, at 7:15p, or Thursday, January 8th, at Noon, at NalandaWest.
Kirby has been in Fremont for a lifetime, as a resident, employee, employer, and playmate. She's served on the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Arts Council, and can be seen wandering the Center of the Universe year 'round. The Lake Union District Council meeting will take place on Monday, January 5th at 5p at History House of Greater Seattle, and is open-to-the-public.
On Monday, January 5th, from 6:30p – 7:45p, hear fresh voices from the local poetry scene during ‘An Evening of Poetry’ presented at the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library, through a partnership with Floating Bridge Press.
As of January 1st (yesterday) the City of Seattle will no longer allow food or compostable paper (pizza boxes, paper napkins, paper towels, etc.) in with general garbage.

The Fremont First Friday Art Walk is not officially happening this Friday, January 2nd, from 6p – 9p, or at least many of the venues will not be participating – but Portage Bay Goods, Pel’Meni Dumpling Tzar, and Frame-Up Studios.
Soon King County Wastewater Management will begin replacing the nearly 100-year-old Fremont Siphon, a major sewer pipe running under the Lake Washington Ship Canal from Fremont to Queen Anne. The Siphon carries sewage and storm water from North Seattle, and cities around it, to the West Point Treatment Plant in Magnolia.
