The next round of Arts in Parks (AIP) grant applications has been opened by the Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. The deadline for applications to this program, intended as outreach to underserved communities, is October 19th, 2016.
The Fremont Arts Council has placed a call for volunteers to serve on two very important teams, supporting our community-based, celebration art organization.
This fall, a few more of the pavers beneath the J.P. Patches & Gertrude statue, the ‘Late For The Interurban’ by Kevin Edwin Pettelle, will be engraved – and if you want to share your message, name or honor a friend forever in Fremont – the deadline to contact History House of Greater Seattle about your own personalized paver is Friday, August 26th at 5p.
The Fremont First Friday Art Walk, on August 5th, runs from 6p – 9p, and offers a great free evening of exploring the neighborhood and seeing great art all around.
At Dusty Strings we’re gearing up for our biggest event of the year – Harp Seattle! This year, from October 7th – 9th, we’ve invited four of the world’s most renowned harpists: Park Stickney, Maeve Gilchrist, Kim Robertson, and Nicolas Carter. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a veteran harper or just starting out; and, as in previous years, memories of workshops, concerts, and connections made will last forever. On Tuesday, July 19th, 7:10p, the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) Board of Directors invites everyone to bring their comments, concerns and questions on the 2016 Solstice Parade to a public meeting and debrief, to take place at the FAC Powerhouse workshop at 3940 Fremont Ave N.

On Monday, July 11th, at 6:30p, the Fremont Branch Library will host another installment of its quarterly poetry series, in partnership with Floating Bridge Press, presenting three local poets reading their original works and participating in an open discussion about their poems, and this art form.
ReAct Theatre has returned to West of Lenin to bring us Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Annie Baker’s ‘The Aliens’, with performances running Fridays – Sundays through July 24th. Directed by David Hsieh, check out this production of an Obie Award-winning play called, “the best of 2010,” in the New York Times.
