Have a great plan for improving Fremont? The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods (DON) has announced that its three Neighborhood Matching Funds – the Small Sparks, Small & Simple Projects, and the Large Projects Fund – are open and available.
On big flashing street signs, closures have been announced of the Fremont Bridge for this coming weekend. On January 9th, Friday night/Saturday morning, from 11p – 7a, and on January 10th, Saturday night/Sunday morning, from 11p – 7a, the Bridge will be fully closed to all vehicular, cycle and pedestrian traffic.
The Lake Union District Council meeting will take place on Monday, January 5th at 5p at History House of Greater Seattle, and is open-to-the-public.
As of January 1st (yesterday) the City of Seattle will no longer allow food or compostable paper (pizza boxes, paper napkins, paper towels, etc.) in with general garbage.
Soon King County Wastewater Management will begin replacing the nearly 100-year-old Fremont Siphon, a major sewer pipe running under the Lake Washington Ship Canal from Fremont to Queen Anne. The Siphon carries sewage and storm water from North Seattle, and cities around it, to the West Point Treatment Plant in Magnolia.

On November 29th, for Small Business Saturday®, the Regional Administrator for the Small Business Administration (SBA,) Calvin Goings, visited eleven businesses in eleven small business districts around Seattle.
Garbage collections will be delayed one day due to the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. Those who normally have their collection scheduled for Thursday, will be picked-up on Friday, November 28th, and those in Fremont who normally have their collection on Friday, will have their pick-up on Saturday, November 29th.
On Sunday, November 16th, from 10a – 1p, volunteers are needed to help spread mulch in the community-maintained Fremont Peak Park.
