This Friday night, June 17th, starting at 9p, you can witness the most amazing spectacle ever – the Solstice Parade in reverse! The floats that will be on-display during the parade on Saturday at Noon need to be moved into place – they are big, they are heavy, and many hands make light work. Plus, it’s a great way to help the parade, and get a sneak peek!
Things do go a little wacky here at the Center of the Universe in the time of the Solstice, and the Fremont Fair. On June 14, 2011, local developer Brian Regan reported some interesting happenings going on in the ‘hood – particularly in the area of his property at 3417 Evanston Avenue North.
On Saturday, June 18th, the Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade will roll down the fair streets of Fremont, starting at Noon. One outstanding place for viewing – for those who have chosen not to be in the parade – will be at History House (790 N 34th.) For Victory Music will host concerts in the covered sculpture garden courtyard of the museum before and after the parade.
You can go sit and watch the Solstice Parade, at Noon, on Saturday, June 18th – or you can participate! Why be passive when you can be an active part of this incredible experience? This summer Fremont has many reasons to celebrate, including the arrival west of the Interurban and west of the center of the universe of West Of Lenin, a new 88-seat black box theater space now available for small theatrical works and live music performances, at 203 N 36th St.
On Wednesday, June 15th, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with many other North Seattle business organizations, will host a City Council Candidate’s Forum at Gas Works Park. This annual tradition offers a great lunch (this year done by Cameron Catering,) time to network and schmooze with area business owners and movers & shakers, plus an invaluable chance to meet the folk who want your vote in the 2011 election for the Seattle City Council.
Midnight on Thursday, June 9th is the deadline for on-line registration for runners (or walkers) in the 2011 Fremont Fun Run 5K. Pre-registration, on-line, costs only $30. Registration will be possible the night of the race – starting at 4:30p on Friday, June 10th – but at a cost of $40 per runner.
Sunday, June 12th, from 2p – 4p, the second free concert in the Music In The Sculpture Garden (MITSG) series takes place at History House (790 N 34th.) featuring Silver Lining and Larry & Lynette.
Less than two weeks left to the Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade, and a stroll past the Powerhouse (3940 Fremont Ave N) will offer plenty of opportunities to, “Here, hold this!”
At White Rabbit (513 N 36th St,) enjoy the Tweedle Comedy Show on Sunday, June 5th, starting at 8p. For $5 (tickets available at the door, or through Brown Paper Tickets) for the 21+ show, watch eight of the Northwest’s most talented comics knock themselves out tickling your funny bone!
