HONK! This Weekend, At Gas Works & Around the Town

On Saturday, May 14th, from Noon – 6p, Gas Works Park will be overrun by marching brass, and Honk! Fest West. The celebration of brass bands, drum corps, and samba lines sets off to stroll the grassy meadows of Gas Works, with entertainment for all ages, and all for free!

A Two-Wheeled Traffic Jam Expected At LTD

On Sunday, May 15th, in remembrance of the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, Red Hook Brewery will hold the 16th annual ‘Haul Ash’ Tour de Brew bicycle ride – a 42-mile, round-trip excursion between the current Red Hook Brewery (14300 NE 145th St, Woodinville) and the place where the micro-brewery became massive – Fremont.

Come Help Build A (Solstice) Parade!

On Saturday, May 14th, starting at Noon, volunteers are needed to help with the pre-parade, as the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) shifts float bodies from winter storage to the art studio. On Tuesday, May 17th, visit the Artists’ Reception, at the Fremont Abbey at 7p, to see the floats for the 2011 Solstice Parade. And, on May 21st, attend the Grand Opening of the Solstice Parade build, at the Powerhouse (3940 Fremont Avenue North) at Noon.

FHS Historic Building Display at Fremont Library

On Saturday, May 14th, from Noon – 1:30p, the Fremont Historical Society will hold its annual reception at the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library System. While this reception will officially kick-off the historic Fremont display, the photos and narratives on several Fremont structures can already be viewed, and will be decorating the library for the entire month of May.

First Community Work Party for the Fremont Wetlands Trail Park

Saturday, May 14th, from Noon – 4p, will be the first volunteer community party for the Fremont Wetland Trail Park. Come out and help other Fremonsters – and anyone with a will to hike and explore nature in the middle of Seattle – clean up and start creating a community-based green space, just south of the Fremont Bridge.

Art Show Triumph At B.F. Day

On Friday, April 30th, the B.F. Day Elementary School library hosted an art show that gave students, staff, families and the community a chance to see the collection of paintings and mixed-media work commissioned by Windermere Realty – and created by students.
