Weather forecasts for the weekend predict heavy rainfall. This could cause overflows in the sewer system, and Monica Van der Vieren, of the King County Wastewater Treatment Division Community Relations, wants everyone to know who to contact in case of problems – now or any time.

After The Kids Get Theirs

Plenty of family fun going on in Fremont this holiday season, with shows at Stone Soup (A Child’s Christmas In Wales), Hale’s Palladium (Red Riding Hood & The 3 Little Pigs), and the Dance Fremont performance of Steadfast Tin Soldier going on this weekend. Yet, there will also be a special something-something for the adults among us.

Dance Fremont Presents 14th Annual Steadfast Tin Soldier Performance

On December 11 & 12th, over 70 performers from Dance Fremont will stage a traditional holiday ballet, The Steadfast Tin Solider: A Story Ballet, based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen. Performances take place at the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center (15343 – 25th Avenue N.E.) at 2p and 7:30p on Saturday, December 11, and 2p on Sunday, December 12. Tickets can be reserved at 206/633-0812 x 3, or purchased at the theater, and cost $15 general admission, children under 12 cost $12.

Lenin To Get Lit on Friday

On Friday, November 3rd, the Fremont community once again observes its odd twist on holiday celebrations with the now annual Lenin Lighting at 5p, in “Red Triangle” at 3526 Fremont Avenue North.

9-Week “Weigh To Go” Management Program Upcoming At Bastyr

On Wednesdays from January 12 to March 9, 2011, the Bastyr Center for Natural Health (3670 Stone Way N) will offer a nine-week weight management program called “Weigh To Go”. The unique and comprehensive program combines individual counseling with weekly group sessions to help meet personal goals for a healthier lifestyle. The program costs $300 for the entire 9-week program, and the registration deadline is December 17th.

Safety Barrier Construction Continues, Thankfully

After questions, and rumors, about the safety barrier on the Aurora Bridge swirled around attendees at the most recent Fremont Chamber of Commerce meeting, it seemed time for a quick check in with Greg Phipps, spokesperson for the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the Aurora Bridge safety fence construction project.

Community Meeting on Fremont Siphon on November 30th

On Tuesday, November 30, 2010, from 6p – 7:30p at the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library (731 N 35th) the community is encouraged to attend a public meeting on upcoming construction plans to update the Fremont Siphon, 100-year-old wastewater pipelines located west of the Fremont Bridge under the Lake Washington Ship Canal.
