Rotary Awards John M. Rose Distinction On Local Business and Community Volunteer

In November, the Rotary Club of Fremont presented its annual awards. In 2009, the Fremont Rotary (also known as the Fremont Fun Club) decided to formally name these awards in the name of their founding president, the late John M. Rose. Rose embodied many of the high ethical standards envisioned in these awards – and practiced by those to whom it is given. This year, the winners are Roxy’s Diner, for the Vocational Service Award, and Stacy Heilgeist, for the Community Service Award.

After The Kids Get Theirs

Plenty of family fun going on in Fremont this holiday season, with shows at Stone Soup (A Child’s Christmas In Wales), Hale’s Palladium (Red Riding Hood & The 3 Little Pigs), and the Dance Fremont performance of Steadfast Tin Soldier going on this weekend. Yet, there will also be a special something-something for the adults among us.

Fremont Becomes ‘Center of the Universe for World Harmony’

At a gorgeous dedication ceremony held at 1p on Sunday, November 7, 2010, a new piece of art joined the legend of Fremont. Titled ‘Dreamer of World Peace’ and sculpted by Kaivalya Torpy, the bronze statue commemorates Sri Chinmoy, a life-long ambassador for peace and world harmony. This is the seventh such statue installed around the world, and the first ever installed in the contiguous United States. The statue stands along the Burke-Gilman Trail, between the Aurora and Fremont bridges, with Lake Union just at its back, and will be maintained by History House of Greater Seattle.
